I knew it; I got the same copy and paste reply today; same person, same reply worded exactly the same " no decision made"; I don't expect it this year to be honest; maybe in January or February.....

I'll email them again in 2 weeks, anyway

I emailed them and got a respone on 30 August 2013 that no decision has yet been made on my application. In my enquiry i asked them to say if it has been allocated to a caseworker and they wrote "Your case has already been passed to a caseworker." I hope it won't be long now.
8 weeks since they debited my account i got another email confirming that no decision has been made. Im requesting some docs back as i have a holiday booked in a few weeks.
I got it!!!!! My approval letter came today:-)))) Thank you to everyone on this forum! I received so much help and advise here.
As many other people wrote - don't trust these email updates. Yesterday I got an email that no decision had been made but yet my approval letter was written the day before yesterday.
I don't know if it is a coincidence that on Sunday I filled out the online request for my documents to be returned and my approval was granted on Monday.

Yeah, I meant you; you applied almost 2 weeks before me; I applied on the 22nd.

What nationality are you? I'm EU; are you EU or some of the risk countries? I heard that some nationalities take long than others; anyway, like Sokrates said those email updates are a bit useless; they told him no decision made and he got the letter one day later.....

No they come by good great old Royal Mail, pigeons are better, like special couriers, just tie a letter and they fly straight away, no delays, no waiting times.

I am not from so called high risk countries or EU. Let's hope ILR_Hsmp2007 words come true.

But the funny thing is that I get letters, delivered by Royal Mail, from my company, an embassy, landlord, etc... and 2nd class ones usually arrive in 2 days; the acknowledgement letter I got from the HO took 10 days.... and from what I read here, that's quite common; actually in some cases, it's taken around a month.... so my guess is that when they send a letter out, it doesn't go straight out, it goes around the HO or gets stuck somewhere there for a while, before it goes out.... it must go through different internal departments and it takes around 8 days until it gets out of the HO.....

Alright, let's hope ILR_Hsmp2007 is right; although I still think it's a lottery.... let's see what happens.... at least I can travel without problems....

good luck

there is no such theory as high risk countries and I think its discriminating because most of the countries mentioned in the so called "high risk" countries on this forum are former colonies of britain and still part of the common wealth there is various guys on here that have had their approvals within a 2 months or even a month all from so called high risk countries.

its stupid no where UKBA discriminates against any country as "High risk". if you look at the trends they are actually taking much longer to process EEA apps right now the easiest and fastest being spousal-

sarfraz1 from so called high risk country got his approval in 18 days

Hi njoy1987

I wasn't judging whether it's discriminatory or not; just saying what I've read here "that it takes longer to vet applicants from certain countries, because it requires extra checks" I'm not sure if it's true or not and I'm not judging whether it's fair or not; just saying that I've read it on the forum.

My theory is that it's a complete lottery; for instance like you said people from so called high risk countries have got approvals pretty fast, mine is a very straight forward EEA application without any conviction, dependents, etc.. 10 years continuous treaty rights without any conviction, FPN or special circumstances and it's taking longer than Sarfraz1's; so I personally don't think it depends on the country, but on your luck....
