Driving license?

Hi

We are moving to Ireland and wanted to know how easy/hard it is to get a driving license, compared to the UK. And how much would lessons usually cost? My husband wants to learn.
Also, I will be taking my car from the UK so how does insurance work over there? I might only have the car for a month or so but if I have it longer than that.
