Self Records Check for criminal and court registry.

Post by mealos » Sun Jul 21, 2013 8:33 pm

Hi all,

Has anyone ever done a self survey prior to applying to BC about criminal records and court orders and fines?

I am planning to apply for a Police Certificate which is £35 (the one used for emigration purposes and holds ALL of your criminal records, arrests, etc) and maybe get Court Registry Records for each address I lived for my past 6 years which will cost £48 for all my 6 addresses.

I wanna make sure that I wont get a surprise due to a name confusion or similar therefore not lose £950+ and many weeks (even though I have never had a court order against me nor been detained or arrested).

Has anyone did such and/or submitted such certificates along with his/her naturalization application to accelerate the process (if it makes any difference)?

If you wish you get your own searches done but they will not add any value to the application. If you wish you can include these papers but they will be disregarded and UKBA will conduct their own standard checks.
Your paperwork will not accelerate the process. I would treat these searches as just wastage of money.

See British Citizenship – Good Character Requirement FAQs (click) if you have nothing on the list no checks are needed. It's always a good idea to run a credit check at least once every 12 months just to see no fraud and or defaults are registered.

Thanks Ban.s

What actually scares me is newspaper articles like in below link and soaring numbers of identity thefts , etc in UK which should be one of the weakest countries in terms of identity safety and a centralized system to assure that a resident can access all his/her information. You do know that British government is even incapable of knowing if the visitors came here actually left or overstaying ; or benefit claimers are really in need or simply robbing the taxpayers (yet they chase you like a shadow even harrass you to assure that you paid for your TV licence, spending maybe millions for this)

I would agree that UKBA would want their own search results but I wonder if they would fully disregard British official records that I produce to them anyway?
