Photos for ILR

Post by nm » Mon Jul 22, 2013 1:47 pm

Hi,

It may be a silly question to ask however I just wanted to get the help from members on this.

I have the photographs taken already for my previous Tier1 Extension , can I use these photographs for my ILR since I do not see much differences on me. This photos has taken a year before.

The photo guide lines says "be taken within the last month".

As long as you look the same I can't see an issue.

If the photo is the same as the one submitted previously and held on UKBA records there could be a problem. Be on the safe side, follow the guide lines and submit new photos.

Yes following the guidance is always preferable though, I would very much doubt they'd say anything if you looked the same.

I would hazard a guess the OP is going for a PEO.

@nm Is it worth taking the risk to use the old photo which you have already used for previous visa application, when the guidelines clearly say that the photo need to be taken in last one month.

I fail to understand, what you are trying to save? It costs £5 for a 5 ID photos (£2 for the two photos required by UKBA). This is less than an hour's parking cost or a bus ticket.

When there are clear guidelines you need to follow. If there are exceptional situations, it is different. I am sorry and apologise if this offends you, but I did not get the logic of saving cost of photographs when you pay over £1500 as the visa fee.

I personally believe that one should follow the guidance.. submit latest and new ones just to avoid any further delays for ones application

Well, once i was extending visa, i had to go to Croydon PEO and gave 2 set of photos, both were different and had 2 years gap, and the Counter staff asked me why am looking young in 1 photo and other old.

I said i took that photo when i was young and the other photo a month back. But both are mine.( When was replying this my legs were shivering)

She laughed and took it.

But that was nasty work by me and i would not take that risk again

As other members say please get the latest one.

Read below case worker guidance for mandatory and non-mandatory requirements for photographs (Pages 23 & 24).

an old post I know but I should say that just today I got a letter stating that MY APPLICATION IS NOT YET VALID because I submitted photos (in the correct format) that I had from some previous point in time...apparently they were the ones I had taken for my last extension.

I have 10 days to submit new photos. so, in answer to the OP, no you cannot submit ones you have used before apparently!
