Obviously working for somebody else is easier to prove (pay slips etc) then your own business...
ebay is sufficient, just think - ebay/paypal wll be your invoices ETC...
but eBay and PayPal are expensive in the long run (all the fees soon mount up)
Personally, if your looking to sell yourself, perhaps setting up your own website/ market stall / carboot sales etc...
eBay is good as it puts your product in front of lots of people, but if your making tiny commisions/profits on that product [most ebay sales are based on like £0.10 profits etc and sell lots to make that etc - think of all the 99p items etc]
In the UK eBay is pretty much worthless with the constant price hikes for postage etc... - you have to factor all that into it...
