Help! Divorce and need help for housing benefit & tax cr

Post by Som2083 » Sat Jul 27, 2013 9:40 pm

I having relationship issue with my hubby and decided to divorce

We currently renting 1 bedroom flat in Sarrat which is around £550 per month (private tenant). I like to move out with my little girl who is just 6 years old. I like to move to Watford to a 2 bedroom flat which cost £825 per month (private tenant).
**Different District Councils

I don't mind to pay the private tenancy upfront. I am full time housewife. But, I do have some saving which can survive for 3 months around £7000.

I from Thailand. But, I have moved to UK 7 years ago as work permit dependent and I have living in UK legally for 7 years. I got ILR at Sep 2011. I am British Citizen since December 2012.

May I know I entitled to have housing benefit?

May I know how soon I will receive the house benefit claim back, job seek allowance and tax credit

Use the entitled to calculator to get an estimate (click).

The HB/CTB can take 6-8 weeks though stress you have a young child and should be sooner. JSA can be claimed online and should be paid 2 weeks in arrears + around 3 das for the initial application. Tax credits can take longer but get your claim in ASAP if you're no longer a couple.
