Query Regarding Travelling on Indian Passport for my kid aft

Post by umittal » Wed Jul 31, 2013 1:46 pm

Hi Friends,

My Case is like:-

1. Me and my wife have Indian Passports and have acquired ILR on July 2013.
2. My Son has BRP card that was issued in Dec 2012 against my TIER 1 extension application and is valid till Dec 2015.
3. I have registered my Son as British citizen as he is born in UK. Date will be around 15Aug 2013.
4. He should have his British Passport by 30 Aug 2013.
5. I need to visit India on 10th OCT for my sister’s wedding.

Is it all right to take my son on Indian passport for 20 days (Say till 30Oct)? OR shall I surrender Indian passport and apply for tourist visa for my Son. In case of later how much time will it take to surrender passport and get tourist Visa for India.

Thanks for your help on this.

Regards
umittal

If you wish you can surrender indian passport and apply for tourist visa for your child. Travelling on Indian passport after obtaining foreign citizenship is allowed upto 3 months so travel upto 15th Nov should be ok.

Thanks

I got a further question on this. Say My Son gets Naturalization certificate issude on 15th Aug.

If he travels to India on 15th OCT and then travel back on 15th DEC will it attrcat any penalty charges?

Do they also consider data when you travel back?

any use of the passport for travel beyond the 3 month grace period will attract penalty.
