Self assessment statement of accounts - Query

Post by iramkk » Fri Aug 09, 2013 3:33 pm

Hi All,

I am planning to apply for Naturalisation next week.

I contacted HMRC for recent self asssement statement of accounts as it is a requirement since I am self employed. They have sent me the SA302 - Self assessment tax calculation for year 2011-2012. Is that enough?

They said I dont have one for 2012-13 as I have not filed my returns yet.

Please advise if this is the correct one?

Thanks

You are OK!

If you have noy filed your 2013 tax return yet, HMRC records will not show any tax liability for tax year 2013.
No tax liability = you are up to date with tax payments.

This is immigration forum and your question was about taxation.. :D

Yes SA302 is the history of your self assessment. You can ask for SA302 for as many years as you want. HMRC use to send SA302 automatically when they didnt had online self assessment system in place. Now due to online self assessment they dont send it unless you request it.

Thank you for the information.

But I am worried whether it will be a problem if I send 2011-12 statement, as I have not yet filed the 2012-13 returns.

Or do I have to file 2012-13 returns and then get the statement and then make the application?

Thanks

You still have until 31 January 2014 if you file online SA. This will not affect your application. When did you file 2011-12 SA.

Hi, filed my returns for 2011-12 in January 2013.

So, have to file it now or apply with the 2011-12 statements is the dilemma...

Doesn't matter, only requirement is that you dont have any tax or ni outstanding.

Where is that requirement?
