Post by gaboon_viper » Thu Aug 15, 2013 10:31 pm

Hi great forum..... Helped me alot in my whole ilr process. Thanks

My wife interview is next month for service SET M. I am claiming child benefit. Last month i recieved child tax credit and working tax credit. But the letter came from HMRC is on both of my and my wife name. What does it means that they give CTC and WTC to both of us,... As my wife is not yet entilted for publuc funds. Should i tell HMRC about this, and return the CTC nd WTC?

Thanks, your advice will be much appreciated. Thank you

If you're British or settled then claiming tax credits in joint names is not only allowed but mandatory.

You don't need to tell the HMRC anything unless its a notifiable change of circumstances, I.e. working less hrs.

You should declare the income including benefits on the application.

There is no requirement for your wife to be working.

Hi, before posting my post here, i called HMRC, thinking that they did mistake by sending my award letter on both of me and my wife name. The operated told me that send us the award letter back.

Now i knew that tax credit should be both on me and wife name as compulsory regardless of my wife depending visa... Now i am worrying that my call to HMRC will stop my tax credit or not... A bit worry now. Please advice me in this matter.. Thanks great forum.

Give them a ring and make sure they've not suspended your claim.
