Hi,
I hope someone can help me. I am a kenyan getting married in a few months to an irish national. We met in the UK in 2010 but i have since moved to kenya for work and he lives in ireland. He has been here on several occasions but i have been unsuccessful in going to meet him in ireland. In 2012, we applied for a short stay visa so i could spend christmas with his family but that was rejected on financial grounds and proving our relationship was real. We thought we just needed to show that he is gainfully employed. We also attached his visas to kenya but we were later told that that only proves that he was in kenya, not that he came to see me.
Anyway, we have decided to get married in kenya and i move to ireland after that. I am worried about reapplying because of the 1st rejection. Also, we have conflicting info on how to prove he can support me. The truth is that he has a good job but with all the travelling to kenya and his mortgage, and the upcoming wedding, we are worried that the balance on the account may not be good...plus we have no clue how much we should show. Someone else in ireland told him that when we are married, we do not need to include a bank statement, just the p60 and payslips. Is this correct? Do we need to show a bank statement? And if so, what is the threshold required to prove he can support me there? What else can we include to show financial ability? (maybe assets etc?)
Please advise as we are stuck. We have contacted INIS on this and we have no clear answer. Anyone who has been through this and wants to help me out...we will be greatful. I will be submitting my application for a d spouse visa in november.
Thanks
