Intent to marry questions

Post by menwall » Mon Aug 19, 2013 11:00 pm

Hi all,

My fiance will hopefully be moving to the UK (Belfast) from Thailand in January for our Wedding in April. We have our reception booked at the hotel for the date in April, as well as the ceremony booked and confirmed with my minister who will be the officiant (religious ceremony) for the same date. I was wondering what further evidence is required for showing 'intent to marry' other than what I would plan to submit:

-Letter from officiant confirming he will be wedding us on the date
-Confirmation from hotel - receipt for deposit from hotel for the reception
-A couple of other receipts such as groom outfit
-Proof of our history together and our plans

I have read about having to contact the registrars office to book a date with them, but surely that is for non-religious ceremonies? or am I missing something about the whole process?

Please advise ASAP

Thanks,
C

Thanks vinny; I will assume that "Any evidence that may be available that wedding arrangements are in hand may help in this respect." means the list of evidence in my first post.

I'm also not from England or Wales so am worrying that I will have to produce something more, but we can't really 'give notice' without an original or certified copy of her birth certificate/passport and this is something which is difficult for me to get as my fiance who I am sponsoring is not in the UK right now. Our officiant has told us to wait until she arrives in January to give notice and the guidelines on the 'giving notice' application form suggest to give notice 8-10weeks before the wedding - do you think mentioning all of this will be okay or will we be expected to have evidence of contacting the registrar? (even though our minister is wedding us and doing the majority the correspondence with the registrar on our behalf)

Thanks

Quote: 'as my sponsor is not in the UK right now'. Surely you're the sponsor aren't you?

Any other opinions? Is the booking with the registrar that far in advance necessary to show intent if I have all the other evidence (listed in first post)?

I'm sure there are other threads on this but each person usually has a different scenario and requirements so I was wondering if someone here could take a few minutes and review our list of supporting docs which we will be submitting? I would really appreciate it and would love to hear of anything we have left out.

I am the sponsor and my fiance from Thailand will be coming to the UK to marry and settle. We will be applying next month, but I wanted to get this list drawn up now so that I would have time to get anything I may have missed. Our list is as follows:

-Standard docs
1.Applicant passport
2.2 passport size photo of Applicant
3.Letter from me (sponsor) outlining relationship history, how we met, our many trips and confirming my sponsorship and details of wedding
4.Letter of introduction from Applicant also giving details of relationship, plans for the future, date of wedding which we have booked
5.Tuberculosis certificate (as she is applying from Thailand)
6.English certificate & statement of results (from passing PET test on UKBA list of approved tests)
7.My passport photo page, thai visa stamps and driving license all certified copies.
8.My birth certificate long version
9. Applicant birth certificate (original) and certified translated
10. Signed sponsorship undertaking form (SU07) by my father (for Accomodation sponsorship) and I with note to explain why father has signed
11. Police report of applicant's previously lost passport

-Relationship history
1.E-mails from 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 (4 pages)
2.Whatsapp chat logs over the past 2 years (4 pages)
3.Google chat logs over the last year (4 pages)
4.Skype chat logs/phone call logs over the last 3 years (5-10 pages)
5.Birthday cards and letters which we have sent each other
6.Photographs of each time we have visited each other as well as photos with each others family (9 pages)
7.Previous flight bookings/iteneraries of trips we took together and to see each other over the past 4 years. (5 pages)

-Accommodation (we are staying with my parents)
1.Certified copy of the deeds to the house
2.Certified copy of a document which shows the mortgage being taken out
3.Mortgage statements from 2005 and then 2006 which shows the mortgage having being paid off
4.A recent rates bills (this is the equivilant of council tax in Northern Ireland) in my fathers name as well as an oil bill.
5.Recent bank statements will be used from financial section to prove I also live there
6.Letter signed by both my mother and father inviting my fiance to stay in the house for the entire duration of the visa and clarifying who lives there.
7.Photographs of every room inside the house, including spare bedroom and exterior

-Financial requirement (Category A)
1. 6 months original payslips of sponsor (£1550 p/m AFTER tax)
2. 6 months original bank statements of sponsor
3. Letter from employer confirming duration of employment, salary, type of employment etc of sponsor
4. Signed employment contract of sponsor
5. Letter explaining why P60 unavailable (because I got my first paycheck shortly after the tax year ended)

-Intent to marry
1. Signed handwritten letter from my minister on church stationary to confirm booking in church for 19th April 2014
2. Receipt for £650 deposit from hotel + scanned copy of wedding enquiry form + wedding running sheet (timeline of the day) from hotel
3. Receipt for deposit on wedding dress (£200)
4. Letter explaining why we have not given notice to registrar (we felt this may be breaking immigration rules as we interpreted it as she may have to have her fiance visa before she can give notice) & printouts of the UKBA website with highlighted paragraphs stating to give notice after the visa is obtained highlighted and underlined).
5. Discount-card letter from hotel written as 'Dear Bride and Groom' and thanking us for choosing them to host our wedding reception
6. E-mail correspondance with hotel regarding the wedding reception
7. List of family and friends to invite to the ceremony (all-day invites) and only the evening reception

-Plans for the future
1. A letter from us to state that whilst my fiance will not be getting a job whilst on the fiance visa, we have done some research into potential jobs which match her CV/Resume and also potential accomodation for after she has gained further leave to remain.
2.Printouts of potential rental accommodations
3.Three recent and potential job vacancies for applicant
4.Applicant and Sponsor CV showing job history, academic qualifications etc.

Please let me know if I have missed out any major gaps. Your help is very much appreciated and a second opinion would really put our minds at ease.

Thanks (from both of us!)
