Travelling After Application

Post by BaconSammich » Thu Aug 22, 2013 6:10 pm

Hello

Firstly, I have read the FAQ, and some of the other stickied posts, and feel my question still warrants asking. If there is a post I have missed that asks this, apologies, would love to be pointed to it.

I have recently applied for British Citizenship on the basis of Naturalisation. I've had a work permit for 5 years and done 1 year of ILR.

I applied via NCS on the 16th of July. I explained to the application handler, that my mother was ill and I wanted to travel home (South Africa) to visit her. I was told this is fine, as I will be keeping my South African passport and can travel on that. My mother passed two days later, so naturally I flew home immediately. I have been in South Africa for just over one month now.

My concern here, and the core reason for this post is that I intend to stay in SA until the end of November in order to support my father and family at this difficult time. That would mean, by my return, I would have spent roughly 130 days outside of the UK.

Can this affect my application in any way?

Many thanks for any tips.

You are fine. Nothing to worry. Wish you and your family all the strength to overcome this trying period.
Sincerely,
VR

Thank you VR.

Also, I am of course aware that there is a 90 day limit from approval to performing the ceremony (only actually learnt this from reading another thread). If I was to get approved, of course I would return immediately if it is not possible to get an extension to these 90 days.
