Should the passport have atleast 6 months validity?????????

Hi i am on Tier 1 General and applying for ILR in Nov2013 with my wife (dependent) but i don't have enough cohabitation docs for her for first of the two years. All i have in her name is
1-UKBA letter at the time of extension (Dec11)
2-NI registration letter (Nov12)
3-I am thinking to get a letter from GP to confirm her registeration from the beginning of this 2 years time as well.
I can provide more than 6 docs but all of them from Nov12 onward apart from the ones mentioned above.
My question is will it be OK to apply with these docs or its better to apply for extension now and then apply for ILR after one year having all the cohab docs arranged.

Was there no bank account in your spouse's name/joint names in 2012?

Thats the problem there is none. I realized later that i have to have some cohab documents in her name

Any Dr letters, college letters any letters even junk mail?

There were some vaccination letters for my 1 yr old but nothing in my wife name as they had just joined me in UK at the time. GP registration letter (Chi number info etc) is available though but even that is equivalent to the letter from GP confirming the registration so might not count as an extra document.

Council tax? An 11 month gap is quite if you just had one letter for May 2012 or there about's then that should suffice.

I didn't even put her name on electoral/council tax. Naive. I guess we ll just try our luck. Fingers crossed.

Well, set(o) is not as formal as set(m) with regards to cohabitation documents so hopefully what you have will suffice.

I am in a similar position but not as bad- I have letters from june 2011 then none until 2012, I know the June ones are a little out of the 24 months. It's nice to hear, Amber, that set(o) is not as strict with regard to cohabitation documents.

This is what I believe also, UKBA help-line told me this too and if I recall correctly its recommended for all visa types (but depends on CW too).

hmmm.... probably applies if you are applying by post, since by the time the case worker get their hands on your application, the passport would have expired if its due to expire within 6 months...

I am applying on PEO so want to be prepared on this issue. I've tried it on UKBA website but it doesn't tell anywhere that passport should have atlast 6 months validity. Any body came across any info on this?????????

So long as your documents are valid there should be no issue.

You are not legally required to have 6 months' validity on your passport at the time you apply.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. Also I have another question if you don’t mind. I got 3penalty points and 175 pounds fine through court in Feb2010 for speeding. Now in Oct2013 I received 3 fixed penalty points and 100 pounds fine for jumping red lights. Credit obviously goes to my stupidity. I am worried if it’s going to have any negative impact on my ILR application in Dec2013. It’s based on 5yrs on Tier1 General. Could you advise please.

Was the October 2013 points and fine given by the court or not?

it was not through court. its fixed penalty of 3 points and 100 pounds given by police. Offence Code: 305.005

Gwen you should be ok, remember to declare the conviction from 2010.
