Alright relieved... I was asking because these guys hereVR wrote:You do not need to hold a job in order to apply for british citizenship.
And if you claim any benefits it will in no way affect your citizenship application. PROVIDED you satisfy all the requirements you will be granted citizenship.

Hi SabriinaSabriina wrote:Hi quick question again.
I`m so frustrated. Somethings have changed since my last post.
Since September 2013 I am now in my 5 qualifying period. But just as I was starting to prepare for British citizenship I lost me job in July.
I`m a (European) Swedish citizen. I`ve been working these past 3.5 years. And I have now applied for Jobseekers allowance contribution based and housing benefit.
Will this affect my application for BC?
Cheers
Sabriina
Taxes too? Does that include council tax?VR wrote:None of these authorities have anything to do with your citizenship application.
They will check with the HMRC if for the time you were in employment you have paid your taxes and dues and do not have any claims pending.

No, you can't pay taxes if you are unemployed; you can use P60s and letter of employement for the time in employment.Sabriina wrote:Taxes too? Does that include council tax?VR wrote:None of these authorities have anything to do with your citizenship application.

I have a council tax bill collector trying to get £76 for a council tax that I paid (2 months late) and he`s not willing to let go and not willing to believe that I paid.
