Incorrect Nationality Section in Acknowledgment Letter

Dear all,

My wife applied for naturalisation last week through NCS. She applied under section 6(1) although married to a British National. The NCS staff while filling up his own form asked this question and we have specifically said Section 6(1).

In the application form also we have mentioned this in page 13. She applied under section 6(1) due to her absences which are 469 days.

Today we received the acknowledgement letter which states application category 6(2).

Correct application of section is critical because of her absences. Application considered under 6(2) would probably be rejected. The current application under 6(1) is also under discretion.

Unfortunately, my wife is away and currently abroad. In this situation, can I call UKBA and clarify this issue or should I ask my wife to email UKBA.

Also, please can anyone advise me the correct email address where this kind of queries should be sent.

And point out that she has applied as a 6(1). According to the discretion they can exercise they can ignore upto 480days.
What is the reason you have submitted requesting them to exercise discretion? What grounds have you mentioned. There are others on the board with a similar situation on absences. Please share so that everyone can benefit.

Thanks VR for your reply. Unfortunately, she is now in India. Would it be a good idea to email them with the reference number quoted in the acknowledgement letter. Please can you suggest the email address where she can sent her query.

In her application, she mentioned that her absences were attributed to pregnancy and child birth. The main point she was trying to bring was that she has established her home in the UK. Although, she did not include any additional document. We are relying on the fact that her husband and son have been granted citizenship. I am not sure but we are heavily relying on the fact that her absences will be disregarded because it is below the threshold limit of 480 days.

I suggest you mail with the case details.
also send a physical mail recorded delivery with all the details and tell them wrong category has been chosen.

Send a Complaint mail (The physical mail to this address)with all the details

I would not worry. See similar story - Form AN6(2) instead of AN6(1).

I suspect it's just an error. When taking the fee, they didn't really examine the full application. They just checked the spouse nationality as stated on the form and assumed its a 6(2).
