It baffles me that the EU has visa-free exemptions for several countries located in the Americas (Caribbean, Central and South America), but not newly industrialized economies (like Turkey or Thailand) where crime and poverty is by comparison (say Mexico or Brazil), a much less of a problem. Is there an explanation for this?
