tier 4 to EEA1

Post by crazyflower » Wed Sep 11, 2013 4:06 am

Dear All
Please can you advise me, I need your help. My daughter is studying in Uk last 3 years (one year was placement) and one more year is left. She will be graduating in 2014 and has a visa till Sept 2014. In the next one year she will be getting an EU passport. I would like to ask
1. When she does get it, what are the procedures to inform ukba etc as she may get it before the tier 4 visa expires?
2. So can she use her EU passport once she gets it or is there a procedure to cancel the tier 4? Or can she hold both?
3. Since she has to apply for jobs soon for next year, can she say that as visa causes a problem.
Pls help.
Thanks in advance.

As a EEA national, there is no need to inform the HO at all. She can just let the Tier-4 visa expire. She can just use the EEA passport once she gets it.

If she is a EEA citizen, she can state that on her CV / when applying for jobs. They might ask for proof of it so having a passport would be handy.

Thanks Jambo Sir, abari yako.Just two more questions - So if she is in the middle or end of her term/year, she can present her EU passport when she lands in UK, although her tier 4 visa is on her other passport??

Does she need to have a certain bank balance etc?

Thanks & Regards
CF

Correct.

No.

As EEA national she is allowed to enter the UK. Strictly speaking she will require a private health insurance to cover her studies time if she wants to use that period to achieve Permanent Residence status (and eventually British citizenship) after 5 years in the UK.
