I am sure they use franking service by royal mail
1st Class Letters costs 47p
2nd Class Letters costs 33p

The saving is 14p per letter ... that is a saving of £5460 only on approval letters for october applicants (considering they received 39,000 applications in october)

I think although letter is dated 27th Jan.. it might not have been posted immediately.. guess they send letters in batches.. so that could cause some delay.. and rest of delay could be by our "royal mail".. delivering 2nd class post at their leisure..

@Ozair, cost for HO who might have even cheaper rates than 33p for 2nd class.. they could be under corporate rates...

On a positive note, I think it so good and kind of re-assuring to know that any timeline posting that gets fed into this thread i.e. Oct 2013 timeline tracker at this stage is about approvals and not fee deductions. :D

I don't want to think there are still some Oct 2013 folks out there still waiting for their application fee to get deducted from their ac by the HO.

You apply for your passport, you will get it by recorded delivery, Passport is your right ... unfortunately, citizenship is not a right but a privilege, so you cant hold them for not providing good service. All we can do is wait.

@ Ozair,
Honestly, I get disturbed when most especially this present secretary of state goes on about "it's not a right" nonsense.
Are we not being made second class citizen then?I think it's a deliberate attempt to make it look like a favour,is it really a favour?
This guy needs to come out and explain that better.

They have received 39000 applications in October 2013
As per immigration board statistic in October 2013, TOTAL applicants are 280.
(Approve application 207, Pending application 58, Unprocessed application 15)
39000/280 = 0.72 % of the total applications

Positive hope for coming week

I was of the view that there is a queue system in place but after four continuous months I agree that it does not appear to be the case.
I would rate all the factors as followings;
1-luck
2-Route of application e.g work permit,spouse,EAA etc
3- Nationality (I think another important factor)
4-mode of application (NCS or Post)
Postal applicants gets their letter quicker than NCS (doesn't matter as long as it is approved :  )
So friends let's pray that it will all be over. The last and final process for which people have spend years after years will end up quickly so that they can plan ahead without anything to worry about.
