Qualifying period to consider for applying 10yrs long res.

Post by bonga » Tue Oct 08, 2013 11:37 am

Hi

I have received student visa start from 7/9/03 but I came 6/12/03. And continuing stay in this country and would like to apply for the long term resident visa(ILR). My question is shall I able to considerer the visa start date or arrival date in UK as my qualifying period 10 years,?

if anyone please let me know then that will be great.

Source: SET(LR)

4 WHEN TO APPLY

“There is a qualifying period to complete for a Long
Residence application It runs either from

- the date on which you entered the UK with a visa;
or, if you did not enter UK with such a visa, from
- the date on which you were first granted permission to remain in the UK.

If you entered the UK with a visa several weeks or
more after the date from which it was valid for use, you
may need to apply for an extension of stay to complete
the relevant qualifying period. “

Is it meaning I have to consider only from the time of arrival?

I am considering applying 28 days before completing
the qualifying period.

Thanks
