ILR for kids born outside UK

Post by mrkashifali » Wed Oct 09, 2013 5:42 pm

Hi Experts,

I am under old Work Premit category. My ILR is due in January 2014.
I am living with my wife and 2kids here in UK.

My 2 kids (under 18 ) both born OUTSIDE UK.

I am planning to apply in person for self and wife. And was confused that my kids will get British citizenship when I will get my ILR.
Please advise in detail:

- Do I need to apply for my kids i.e. Apply for self and 3 dependents(wife and 2kids) for ILR?

- Or should I appy just for my self and wife and kids will get citizenship later?

I hope, I have made my point clear.
Regards,

Ali

As the children were born outside the UK their application will be based on section 3(1) therefore, they will be expected to have ILR before being registered as British.

It will be Subject to discretion (3(1)). They also expect a parent to have, or are applying for, British citizenship, etc.
