EEA3 Application / PR status

Post by Sutanapvirag » Wed Oct 23, 2013 10:01 pm

Hi Everyone,

I am planning to apply for PR status (EEA national, from A8 country) but not sure if I am entitled to that yet. Here is my history:

- came to UK: Feb 2007
- self-sufficient: Feb 2007 - Apr 2008
- employment 1: Apr 2008 - Jan 2010
- self-sufficient: Jan 2010 - Jun 2010
- employment 2: Jun 2010 - Nov 2011 (acquired WRS in July 2010)
- on maternity leave: Nov 2011 - Dec 2011 (then made redundant)
- part-time employment: Jan 2012 - present

As I only acquired WRS in July 2010, it means that the earliest I can apply for PR status is July 2015? Even if I have been in the country since Feb 2007 and married to a British citizen for 2 yrs and have a baby?

Many thanks for anyone's kind help.

In order for your employment to count, you needed to have WRS. You can rely on your spouse's income, but you will be expected to have sickness insurance.

What where you doing from 2007-2012?

Had you married to him since 2007, there will be no question on my mind that you are entitled to PR.

During the period you were self sufficient, did you have CSI, and on what basis were you self sufficient.

In any event you will qualify in 2015.

You may have qualified on a best case scenerio since 2012.

I have only been married for 2 yrs. I was self sufficient by relying on my own savings from my home country whilst actively looking for work here and learning the language by myself. I had no CSI.

So PR status can only be obtained by either 5 yrs of continuous employment under WRS (if from A8 country) or 5 yrs of marriage to a British citizen?

How long do you think the Life in the UK test is valid for? I've just passed it this week. Is there a chance that's still valid in 2015?

Thanks again.

HO says that they keep information about results for a reasonable amount of time and an application for naturalisation should be submitted as soon as possible after passing a test.

Perhaps they are simply encouraging people to be fairly fresh with their knowledge at the time of applying.
