Such an irony that Nov applicants are not even assigned to a caseworker and those from Jan are already being processed ...

If it was assigned to a caseworker and then waiting it would have been understandable that they are waiting for some enquires... but not being assigned is totally something else ... it shows the inability of the home office workers to handle the applications in the order applied ...

I replied back to them asking the same question :-) . I don't think they will respond back with any explanation for that :-)

Schengen countries classify these countries as high risk. Visa processing for these countries requires extra checks which add 2-3 weeks to the processing time. Based on this naturalisation applications (even though UK is not part of Schengen) for citizens of these countries might take longer as evidenced by the timelines.

Afghanistan Colombia Kuwait Oman Somalia
Algeria Congo (Zaire) North Korea Pakistan Sudan
Bangladesh Egypt Lebanon Palestine Surnam
Belarussian Indonesia Libya Philippines Syria
Belize Iran Myanmar Qatar Vietnam
Burma Iraq Nigeria Rwanda Yemen
Burundi Jordan Niger Saudi Arabia Zimbabwe

Any idea, what kind of extra checks they do? which database they check? do they send information to every single countries of the world and then ask if 'this' person has any issues in that country etc????

Well extra checks or even any checks can be done only after the application is assigned to a caseworker ... so my dear friend you need to check if you case has been assigned to a caseworker yet ... if not then nothings gonna happen no matter from what country you are ...

Called HO many time, the response is always the same still not complete.

Quite Frustating to see January application getting approvals when Oct/Nov application are still waiting.
Atleast it is consoling to see there are many other November applicants who are still waiting like me.

My wife is from one of these high risk countries. Time to approval was 12 weeks, which I think is fairly standard for late November applicants.

high risk, low risk is plain bollocks I think. they just have a standard check procedure which they perform on every case.

on the other hand they don't have any procedure in place on how to handle applications in a hierarchical order i.e: date etc.

and before you ask, what are those caseworkers. they are just bunch of people who haven't got a clue.

I used to work at a call centre part time and I am still in touch with some lads from there. They work in home office call center (the people you ring to ask for updates/advice) and one of them is a case worker. All they do is follow a checklist they are given and thats all.

looking at the list, Asian subcontinent is all high risk which can't be right. and how would you explain High Risk anyway.

It is frustrating to not get an approval quick enough but there is no point speculating things. It says in reference letter that they have up to 6 months to decide so i would just be patient and wait. it will come through.

No need to call them again because the much awaited letter has arrived. Letter was dated Feb 19th and received Feb 27th. Will need to call my local council in UK to arrange suitable time for my ceremony, hopefully it will fall within my return due date.

Thanks to every member of this forum.

I called the 0870 606 77 66 number ( option 3) and spoke to a lady who told me the following:

Your application is currently with a caseworker......she then asked me 'have you received any documentation from us...my response 'no, apart from the acknowledgement letter......her next question...'what is your address'.....I responded as per the question and then she did a few more check and got back to me saying.......'your application is nearing completion, you should here from us shortly .

She was not precise on how much longer I could wait but I'm assuming shortly means a couple of weeks.

Guys,

I'm one the November applicants. Brief summary of my timeline;

NCS-Dudley council
applied on 13th November 2013
payment deducted on 13th January 2014
acknowledgement letter receive on 17th January 2014
Approval.......still waiting

I'm currently out of the country and hope to be back by Easter time...I've tried to call the UKBA on 01516725626 from abroad but they seem not to have any option that can put you through to someone. All options are set to default...'please send us email for update on your application'.

Does anyone know of any other number I could use to reach them.

Thanks

Jay
0870 606 77 66 then option 3 works. Try option 3 from 01516725626

You can call them tomorrow to check again your status ,,,
Hi guys,

I received my supporting documents yesterday but no sign of the approval letter yet.

Is that the process? Do you receive your supporting documents first?

That was exactly what happened in my case. Got the docs on 15/02 and the approval/council ceremony letter arrived a week after 22/02.
