What has her spouse been doing during his time in the UK?

This is very vague. In the absence of full circumstance, I am doubtful that Vinny or myself will be able to sssist.

If you don't give some extra info there's no way anyone can provide advice.

At least answer the following questions:
-how long have they been together in the UK?
-what has the EAA national been doing in the UK? Studying? Living on his/her own financial resources? Claiming benefits?
-do they have comprehensive medical insurance?
-are they married/in a civil partnership?

Does your friend and your wife have similar problems?

What nationalities are they? When did they lose their jobs? Have they been seeking employment, etc.?

If you can give more details, then it would aid the members who may wish to help you.
