What level of savings does your partner have? When did you apply for DLA?

The £5000 works out as £38.46 per week tariff income which is very helpful. Was your claim for DLA or PIP? It basically all boils down to you being granted DLA/PIP (any rate). However, having vast experience with DLA you should understand a refusal is the case for many applicants at first instance. If you are refused, appeal within 1 month. I can show you a template letter to include with the spouse (I assume s(he) is your spouse?) application when you are ready to apply.

A DLA/PIP award is the most important issue and your spouse meeting an A1 English requirement.
