ILR Questions

Post by Ducky11 » Mon Nov 18, 2013 1:06 pm

Hi All,

The time for my ILR application is slowly creeping up. I cant believe that its already been 2 years since I was trawling these forums for help with my Tier 1 extension! I just have a few questions & was hoping that you would be able to help me out as the UKBA Home Office website is extremely confusing. I would appreciate any help whatsoever.

I currently hold a Tier 1 General extension which expires in February next year, which takes my total time spent working in the UK on a Tier 1 General visa to 5 years. Hence I believe that I am eligible for ILR (I have also recently passed my life in the UK test). I have a few questions regarding that, which I have stated below –

1. What is the earliest date I can apply, considering that my Tier 1 general extension expires on 13th February 2014? I intend on doing the same day application.
2. In order to get an appointment on the earliest date I can apply, when & how & at what time of day should I try to do the online application for the appointment?
3. Taking my circumstances in to account, can someone please provide me with a link to the section of the UKBA website where I will be able to read about the documents required, forms to fill etc? When I tried there were so many different types of ILR that I got really confused. Not really sure which SET I am classed as.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Ducky

28 days before your 5 yr qualifying period. Remember 5 yrs from your first application not 28 days before 13/02.2014 (In case you've made a postal application for your extension.)

How to book PEO appointment

Thanks so much mate! Much appreciated. Just one more question – When should I attempt the online application to get an appointment 28 days before 13th February (16th January). In other words, how many days in advance are appointments released?
Cheers,
Ducky

Hi All, I did some digging around here & it turns out that the answer to my previous question is 6 weeks (42 days). Could someone please confirm that is correct? The post which I found was a couple of years old so just wanted to clarify that appointments are released 6 weeks in advance.

Hey Guys,

I don’t know if I’m being paranoid, but I just wanted to clarify something very quickly.

I just did a test run on the appointment booking for my SET(O) ILR & there appeared to be hundreds of available appointments. There were available appointments from the 9th of December onwards at multiple times at Croydon. Am I missing something or doing something wrong? When I last did it for my Tier 1 General extension (2 years ago) I had to keep trying at 12 midnight until I got lucky & got an appointment. Have things changed since then or am I doing something wrong? I was doing it via this link - http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/about ... pointment/

Please let me know.

Thanks,
Ducky

previously people were booking dummy appointments. that has all changed since ukba required payment at appointment booking stage. hence the freeing up of all appointment slots.

So do I have to pay the full amount (about £1400) at the time of booking the appointment?

Thanks,
Ducky
