Child benefit question

Post by UKBALoveStory » Thu Apr 17, 2014 12:11 pm

Quick question guys, Father has qualified for ILR (was on Tier 1), mother has Tier 1 dependent leave to remain.

Two kids, both born in UK and registered as British after ILR of father.

Can parents claim child benefits? or is there any restrictions?

Thanks :)

Child Benefit in Father's name, Tax Credits in joint names.

Thanks for reply Amber. Does it make any difference (money wise) if you claim child benefit on only father's name? Sorry, i know very little about how benefits system works.

Thanks

No, it does not, unless his income is above £50000 pa. The Father can claim in his name and ask the benefit to be paid into the Spouse's bank account.
