EEA3 and claiming benefits

Post by varna1983 » Sun Aug 24, 2014 6:44 pm

Dear all,
I will be very thankful if you could advise on the following:
A friend of mine is married to a British citizen and is an EEA citizen as well exercising treaty rights as an employee (having a blue card). She wants to apply for british citizenship on the basis of exercising treaty rights as an EU for d past 5 years however she also claimed Housing benefits and was not in employment and claimed JSA. Did she broke her treaty rights excersise and not eligible to apply for BC?

Benefit claim will not affect eligibility for British citizenship, provided the benefit was lawfully obtained.
