Travel to India with passport validity of 3 months

I am planning to travel to India in mid-May with my Indian passport getting expired in 3 months time.

I was reading online that passport has to be valid for 6 months.
Also, I have intentions to book 1 way ticket for the time being but planning to come back in mid-June (before by passport expiry date)

Has anyone else travelled in such situation?

Passport obviously guarantees entry to 'home' country at least until it expires (if not beyond).

This is really more a question for your airline as to whether they will let you board a flight.

Just because someone else may (or may not) have done this on some airline doesn't mean you can do so using some other airline (& vice versa).
