Marriage Visit Visa

Post by b0d » Tue May 03, 2016 3:06 pm

Hi all, thanks for any helpful and specific replies in advance.

Marriage Visit Visa

I am looking to have the following clarified please,

"Evidence that arrangements have been/are being made to marry or form a civil partnership or give notice of your intention to this during your visit, such as a letter from a registry office."

My question is, if this cannot be supplied (cannot book registration of marriage), then how is the above condition met? Specifically what document?

My local registry office is going to issue me with a letter (copied in below) to explain why they cannot provide the above evidence. Apparently this is standard procedure and will satisfy the legitimised mafia's (known as government) requirement to prove I am not being decietful. However I do seek this confirmed, preferebly from the horses mouth, but the horse doesnt play fair, so I am asking you guys and girls.

This document could have come from anyone and is not signed and does not carry a letter head. I dont see how it can be accepted as evidence.

=====BELOW LETTER FROM REGISTRY OFFICE SENT TO ME AS WORD DOCUMENT====================

Thank you for your enquiry.
In February 2005 the law regarding foreign nationals marrying or forming a civil partnership in England and Wales was changed.
The law now requires (as you are aware) foreign nationals to have appropriate clearance prior to a notice of marriage/Civil Partnership being taken by a designated register office.
Prior to the new laws coming into force we had been advised by UK Visas that Entry Clearance Officers (ECO) at British Embassies were not permitted to request evidence of pre booking of notices of marriage/Civil Partnership and this was detailed in DSP 13.9... The situation then changed and for a short period of time I am aware that ECOs at many British Embassies were seeking such evidence.
DSP10:10 now advises that registrars will need to see the entry clearance before a notice of marriage will be arranged / taken.
The Registration Service of England and Wales will not provide any written confirmation that a notice of intention to marry or intention to form a civil partnership or a ceremony is booked, as it is not within the statutory duties of the Superintendent Registrar to do so.
It is not possible for either party to a marriage or civil partnership to commence legal preliminaries in England and Wales without the permissions from the Embassy / Home Office being in place.
If the Embassy insists on this evidence, please ask them to contact our office direct so that we can discuss the matter.
We have taken this matter up with a representative from UK Visas in England in the hope that not too many people will experience a similar problem, and I have been assured that ECOs will be contacted to advise them accordingly.
While we appreciate this response does not resolve this matter for you, we hope you can forward it to the appropriate person at the British Embassy so that they can contact this office to discuss the matter further.
Kind regards

==========end letter======================
Also

1) What does the following mean, or where is the legitimised mafia's explanation of the following sentence, anyone know?

"proof of your future plans for the relationship, eg documents to show where you’ll live"

If I am going to give them such things, I need to know what is acceptable and what are grounds for refusal. Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks.

Generally, evidence of a wedding being planned will be accepted...quotes from venues, caterers etc and an initial enquiry for available dates with the Registrar.
Is your fiancee intending to leave the UK after the wedding (within 6 months)? If not, you should be applying for the more expensive fiance visa, not a marriage visit visa.
(Casa, not CR001)
Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

See OPs other 'akin to marriage' questions.
