EEA - gap in residence?

Post by mayeros » Fri May 06, 2016 1:09 pm

Hello.

I am a Bulgarian national. I went to uni between 2010-2013 and I got a yellow registration certificate in March 2011 so the CSI was not required for me. I'm very sure the Sep 2010 - 02 July 2013 period is lawful in my case (student with yellow registration certificate).

However between 03 July and 06 July I can't justify this period. On the 7th I applied for a Blue Registration Certificate which I received later.

I was wondering if you think that the 4 day gap will affect my application in any way? I've already applied and they know that I graduated on the 2rd of July and I applied for the Blue Registration Certificate on the 7th :( Does the Yellow Registration certificate somehow cover those 4 days? Or it expired immediately after graduation?

You just need a RC issued to you as a student to cover your carefree student days; it enables you to invoke the transitional arrangement to absolve you from holding CSI as a student.

A RC is not required for any other purpose; RCs are optional for EEA nationals.
A 4-day gap should be tolerable even if a RC was required as a non-student (which is not the case).

Have you got good documentary supporting evidence for whatever else you have done, in one or more categories of qualified person, during your qualifying period in UK?
&
Have you had any prolonged absences from UK?

Thank you very much for your reply! I truly appreciate it. Btw, I should've clarified: I applied for a DCPR and my concerns are about my application which is now in progress. I have evidence for every single day of my presence in the UK, but I wasn't sure about those particular 4 days.

From what you're saying, that "gap" is not really a gap. My confusion was that I can't put myself into any category: I was not a student, nor a worker, nor a jobseeker. I wasn't waiting for an application either at that point (I only applied for a blue registration certificate a few days later).

I was in a way self sufficient, but I thought Bulgarians had to apply for a Yellow Registration certificate as self sufficient persons prior to 2014 :!:

I read somewhere that the Yellow Registration certificate allows you to work full time for up to 4 months after graduation, but I couldn't find anything official about it.

Well if you were self-sufficient you would have needed CSI as a student RC does not grant exemption in that case.

I would be surprised if a 4-day gap would be a show-stopper.
What did you do immediately after being a student and why do you think those 4 days can't count as that activity too :?:

If your application is already lodged then its all academic and just a case of sitting it out until you get the results.

Well in those 4 days after graduation I did nothing. Then I applied for the Blue Registration certificate. I think from this moment on I am again residing lawfully - I remember reading the days you're waiting for a document like this count towards your residence.

Then I went on holiday for a few weeks. Then I started work and have been in continuous employment since.

Thanks again for your replies.
