SOC Codes - New Entrant and Experienced Thresholds

Post by summerjam » Mon May 09, 2016 2:27 pm

Dear Valued Forum Users,

I need some advice on the thresholds for the SOC Codes.

According to the guidance

"The pay thresholds for experienced workers are set at the 25th percentile for full-time employees in each occupation"

What exactly does this mean?

My case :
SOC 1121 Salary rates: New entrant: £20,800* / Experienced: £31,000
Currently I am on this code with my sponsor and will be making a new application with a different sponsor.
I will be at the age of 25 on the date of application with a salary of £25000.

Does this meet this criteria for my application to be successful?

Does my case fall under New Entrant or Experienced?

Many thanks in advance,
Summer

when you apply for extension, with your current employer or a new employer, you will need to be paid at experienced level of the relevant soc code.

Dear Iworker,

Thank you very much for your response.

My Tier 2 leave to remain was granted (At new entrant Salary level) in December 2013 until Jan 2016 (Which makes it 2 years). Furthermore I applied for an extension this year and was granted leave to remain (Again at new entrant salary level) until Dec 2016.

So far it has only been 2 and a half years on my Tier 2 (General), plus I am 25 years of age.
Would this still mean that I am able to apply under a New Entrant salary with my new sponsor?

If not

Can I apply under the new entrant salary until the end of this year (6 months of leave to remain) so that I am still under 3 years?

Many thanks in advance,
Summer
