Requirements for BC after EEA4

Post by uil01 » Tue May 10, 2016 9:52 pm

Hi Ladies and Gents,
I am sure this question has been asked multiple times, :roll:
I would really appreciate if you could guide me in the right direction. So here it goes.
Married to EU citizen 10/03/2010
Acquired EEA 2 October 2010
Acquired my EEA4 ( PR ) January 2016
When can I apply for British citizenship?
Thanks in advance.

Unless your spouse is now a British citizen, you will have to wait 12 months with PR before you are able to apply for British citizenship. Assuming of course your have proof of PR.

CR001 thank you for the quick reply, she is still an eu citizen however she has been in the country for about 11 years, so I will have to "hold" my PR biometrics card for 12 months before I can apply for BC?

When do you think you acquired PR?
(which is different from when a confirmation of PR card happened to be issued)

- probably by the latest of your 5th anniversary in UK and your 5th wedding anniversary;
(assuming no prolonged absences from UK and that the sponsor is/has been a qualified person for at least 5 years continuously).
