Surrinder singh for parents - Wait for EU Referendum or not?

Post by sali11 » Tue May 24, 2016 1:20 pm

Hi
I recently moved to Ireland with the intention of using Surrinder singh route for my parents. I am now in a position to apply for my parents entry visa (Type C visa under EU directive) using an immigration laywer but I am in a dilemma that should I await the outcome of EU referendum (so that lawyer's fee doesn't get wasted if UK leaves EU) or apply now anyways (if for 2 years nothing is going to change irrespective of Referendum result).
I am of the impression that surrinder singh route is likely to disappear after referendum?
Thanks and looking forward to your comments.

Even if the vote is to leave, the UK will not exit the EU overnight or immediately.

If the vote is yes, expect tougher rules on SS route.

Also note that there are delays in processing the visas for Ireland.

Hi,

One of my friend is waiting for his parents visa response for nearly a year now,

I reckon the delay is definitely intentional to gain time until referendum and implement tighter measures,

Thanks CR001 and everyone for your comments.

CR001,
Do we have any idea how long it would take for the changes to SS route to propose/come in?

Thanks

No one can say anything until after the referendum. Anything said now will be purely guesswork.
