Leaving UK but Curtailment Letter Not Rceived yet

Post by smartindian » Fri May 27, 2016 11:58 am

Dear Friends,

I came to UK and joined one company in January, 2016.
But the employer cancelled my sponsorship (Tier-2 G) after 3 month in the end of March, 2016.
Then I started looking for another job in- and outside-UK.
Fortunately, I found another job in Canada and I will move to Canada dated on June 5, 2016.

I have not received any curtailment letter from Home-office, UK.
So passport does not have curtailment stamp and I have to leave UK by next week.

Query-1
I can't wait for curtailment letter and then submit my passport for curtailment stamp
because I have to move to Canada in next few days.
What will happen if I leave without curtailment stamp ?
As I have not received curtailment letter so far and my UK address will not be valid anymore soon.

Query-2
Shall I inform Home office, UK to send curtailment letter at my new home address in Canada.
Therefore, I will submit my passport later to Home Office, UK by postal service.
This time I have to leave for Canada and can't wait for curtailment stamp.

Please can you answer my both queries ?

No need to post same question everywhere - this topic will do.

If you are leaving the UK by next week, then why do you want a curtailment letter?

Because once it happened with one of my student friend who was doing PhD study here.
She left UK because of her pregnancy and received Curtailment letter 8 months after she left UK.
I wonder why UKBA sent Curtailment letter to her, as she already left UK long time ago.
Don't they cross check records at the port of entry who is leaving or who is coming in ?
What if it happen to me as well ?

Your Tier 2 leave would be invalid for entry into the UK anyway, because of your change in circumstances. A curtailment letter would have the same affect.

If you are leaving, you can just go. You don't have to have a letter to show when you leave. You also don't get a 'curtailment' stamp in your passport.

If the main visa holder (Tier 2 Gen) receives the curtailment letter but the dependents (Tier 2 Gen) do not, can they stay in Uk until they receive the separate curtailment letter with their name on it
