It appears that they are covering themselves in order to avoid a fine for allowing someone without a valid visa to live in the property. This would be due to the fact that they won't have sight of your wife's visa until she arrives in the UK.

The last paragraph should satisfy the Case Worker that they have no objection.

Thank you, Casa!

Will a print out of this email suffice?

It should do, unless for 'belt & braces' they are willing to put this in a letter.

I might send them an email to ask them to do that. If they don't want to then I'll print the email.

I changed solicitors as the one I was using just never responded to my correspondence. The evidence is with the new solicitors today.

Felt very anxious giving all of those precious documents to the receptionist.

They are going to make sure I've got everything and help me make sure I get the process right.

The online VAF4A is complete and submitted, we're making progress!

Looks good to go...together with the landlord's letter as discussed previously.

Questions 1.27 and 1.28. As Audrey is our daughter, would we list her here? I assume so.

Money is sent as needed to support Susan and Audrey, so I will have to give a rough amount.

I pay Susan's rent, would I include that in the 'how much is spent per month' or not? I don't think so.

Forms that need to be completed are the VAF4A (online form) and Appendix 2 ( needs printing and completing by hand.)

I would advise you not to delay as it seems T May and co are planning on raising the income threshold above £18,600 if (when) they win the election. :?
Has the requirement of Appendix 2 changed? The page now says for North Korea only.

Appears to be all online now for applications outside the UK. Paper form for North Korea only by the looks of it.

Even the page is confusing...
Outside the UK
You must apply online from outside the UK. You must also complete Appendix 2.

There’s a different way to apply in North Korea.

My wife is worried that her credit score and student loans could have an impact on her visa application, I've told her she has nothing to worry about.

Thoughts?

No she doesn't, it's not relevant to the application.

I was hoping to get Susan and Audrey to the UK for my sisters wedding at the end of September, and Audrey's birthday at the start of October, but I've had a realisation.

If the application is submitted in early August and takes 8+ weeks to process, then Susan will not have her passport, and therefore cannot come on a visitor visa.

I don't think there is any way for her to come in September.

Hello all!

We're awfully close to applying now. We are going to book the biometric for next Monday, Susan will mail the documents to me express the same day and I'll meet with my solicitors in the UK to go over the evidence one last time before sending the application in.

As I'm sending the application and evidence from the UK, I am thinking of only purchasing VFS Global return label, rather than the round trip label, as I'll be mailing the whole package from the UK. Does this sound acceptable?

Also, is there any official way of putting these documents together for mailing them in? Do I need to put them in a box or particular packaging?

At the moment I have a binder with the documents, and a small cardboard box for the photos. Will the Sheffield processing office provide their own envelopes and boxes to send everything back?

I guess I'm just overly worried, not sure what they expect as a standard.

Also, is there anything else that anyone can think of that we need to consider before applying? We think we have all of the evidence, but obviously don't want to miss anything.

Hello,
I've just read your entire thread from page 1 to 8... congratulations on your beautiful baby girl!

I am American, married to a British citizen. We submitted my spouse visa application from the US, via FedEx to Sheffield with payment for return. It sounds like you are sending from the UK but need it to go back to the US? In that case you need a pre-paid way of returning (I will say that you should use an international company! FedEx or UPS best, as neither Royal Mail nor the USPS will take responsibility for items once out of their own country... I speak from many years of experience!). The UKVI people provided our return envelope, and they kept much of the evidence so the package we sent to them was huge (box) but the return package much smaller (big envelope).

While I'm here I'll add that we too were residing in a place not rented or owned by us (owned by in-laws) and the application was held up because they wanted more documentation on the property. So, if not too late I'd err on the side of caution and get your mum to give you a utility bill and make sure you have proof she is paying the council. Also proof of the size of the place. Just my input, but it seemed on our end they asked for more than actually required.

Good luck! Will watch this space for updates! :-)

Thank you very much for the response Chickpea, I did not see it at the time, and came back to say today we received the email saying that a decision had been made!!
A decision has been made on your UK Visa application. Your application will be dispatched shortly from the UK Decision Making Centre. If anyone contacts you advising that your application is still under consideration or that they can influence the outcome of your application in any way, they cannot - please report any such approach to VisaSheffield@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk.

Applications submitted at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) will be returned there for you to collect in person unless you have opted for a courier return service.

You will receive a separate notification from the Visa Application Centre advising you that the decision has been received there and that your passport is ready for collection. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have received this notification.

If your visa has been issued after a successful appeal please go to the VAC 5 days after the receipt of this email to collect your passport. The VAC will not contact you regarding this.

You should not expect to receive any further notification from this office unless you have made your application in the USA and submitted a pre-paid courier envelope for your documents to be returned directly to you. If so you will also receive a further email with the courier tracking reference.

Kind regards,

UK Decision Making Centre
Very nervous, the application was received on the 3rd of October, so it has been 7 weeks and 2 days since we applied.

Chickpea, my wife asks if your in-laws place was a council house or not?

Keep your fingers and toes crossed for us.

Thank you!

Hi abrock,

I bet you're nervous - will hold positive thoughts for you and a happy outcome!

The answer on the house is that no, it was a small holiday lodge that my in-laws owned. Interestingly it was only available to live in 11 months of the year, hence the site avoided council tax! So there were no council tax bills while we lived there (a bit cheeky I guess?? that was set up by the owners of the land, who his mum paid a ground rent to - we included an invoice or two for that as well as the phone bill but they wanted more so we had to get scans of the gas bills).

Fingers & toes crossed! :-)
