ILR 10 year residency gap

Post by valnepal » Thu Jun 02, 2016 12:59 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have been following this forum for a while now and would really appreciate the help.

Here is my question. I will qualify for 10 years long residency ILR in Sept 2018.
My visas: Sept 2008-Sept 2011 Student visa
Sept 2011- Sept 2013 PSW visa
May 2013-May 2016 Sole Representative visa

I plan to start my studies (either masters or PhD in Sept 2016). That will give me the student visa (Tier 4)
Until then I got an offer from LSE Summer school for 3 months (June-August 2016) which would be short-term student visa.

My question is: I understand that when you leave the UK, if you have gaps in your visas you need to prove you are coming back. I got the LSE Summer School offer back in April before my current visa expired. I am assuming it shows that I was planning on returning to the UK. However, as of now, I still did not make any applications for PhD, so I do not have an official offer for further studies (problems with potential supervisor availability, delay in replying to emails from their side etc). Does the fact that I have the LSE summer school offer prove that I was planning on returning to the UK? Even if it is for a short time? During the next few months I expect to get an offer of a place, so from September onward (which is less than 6 months gap from May) I will be able to come back.
