parents health

Post by devmanda1ia » Mon Jun 06, 2016 9:14 am

Hi requesting members help and advise.

I am on ILR visa status and arranging my parents to come and visit us on visitors visa.

I need to arrange for health insurance from UK as no one in India covers for preexisting conditions. I have searched internet and struggling to find any cover.

Is there any health insurance company who can support with health insurance for visitors to UK. Parents are from India. And have already explored no insurance from India.

Is it too much of risk to arrange travel without health insurance just thinking of NHS bills?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Don't even consider allowing your parents to travel without medical insurance, especially when they aren't currently in good health! NHS fees will be charged at 150% of the cost and a member on the forum previously posted that the medical bill following their parent's hospitalisation amounted to £33,000!
I'll leave others with direct experience of sourcing affordable health insurance to advise. However, the Board Ts&Cs prohibit advertising of specific companies.

I think you will struggle to find travel insurance (cheap) that would cover existing medical conditions. It will cost a hefty premium to have these included regardless of which country you find it. Travelers with health conditions are a risk, and this is why you pay a premium.

thanks both for your advise.

Just not sure where I go from here.

Pre existing conditions is the reason why I need thier health insurance but no one will cover.

I am getting cover from India but that doesn't include pre existing conditions.

My gut feeling is that if something unlikely is to happen whilst they are here, it will be preexisting related.

They already have the visa and I am confused like hell now and not sure what to do.

Shall I go with what insurance I get from India i.e. without pre existing cover or
Give up on my parents visit

Really can do with some more advise please.

Have you asked them what the cost would be to included the conditions? This might not be feasible if they are both sickly and have many existing serious type medical issues.

Have you looked at any elderly person type travel insurance?
