Ielts exam.

Post by Mikey74 » Mon Jun 06, 2016 10:46 am

Hi I am UK subject, my wife is a phillipina, I sent her into UK accademic Ielts exam by accident which is a much higher level exam than the A1 life skils tier2 and she passed it, now the immigration are informing me she needs to take the A1 exam, which is of a lower level as I am applying for a spouse visa. She is nearly 6 months pregnant and the next exam isn't for another month , I have emailed british council for an earlier booking to see if they can squeeze her in but I haven't heard anything back as yet.

Can anyone tell me why she can't use her Ielts certificate and why she requires the A1 when she has already prooven her english is way above A1 standard ? It seems crazy to me :(

Is her English qualification on the UKVI list of approved tests/test centres?

What exactly is your problem?
Sorry I dont know the difference between GENERAL AND ACADEMIC certificates but it should be ok as your cert is at a HIGHER level. I think ACADEMIC is for student visa which is very hard to pass . You only need the general one.
your wife needs to pass AT LEAST( the lowest level) A1 OR ABOVE... SO IF she has passed IELTS at an approved cen then it should be Ok as that is probably way above A1. AND SHE ONLY NEEDS speaking and listening bits EVEN IF SHE FAILS THE reading and writing part of it ...its still ok.. iF she has passed her speaking and listening then you should contact immigration.

Are you saying that passing at a level higher than A1 IS no good for you ?

I also made the same mistake..I made my wife pass IELTS GENERAL( ESOL was easier) and it was very extremely, VERY, stressful hell...but she passed it and got the entry clearance visa.

Mikey74.. How are you proceeding with this?

come back and let us know. The local UKVI place where your wife is applying should be able to give you some direction.

.. so many views but no one is politely sharing their knowledge and experience?

This is very important. please comment.

My wife passed IELTS in PUNE with western academy INDIA in Nov 2013 and the certificate SAYS CENTRE NUMBER IN 100

so many people on this forum keep refering to this link https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... ebsite.pdf
which shows all the approved centres IN india are IN 001
BUT MY WIFE'S certificate is showing cen number IN 100 which was accepted in 2014 to get entry clearance but now we need to apply for FLRm

I phoned both British council and Western Academy and both are saying that they are both still an approved centre
so I am now worried about the certificate showing centre number IN 100 so can we use that for her FLR m. the governments approved centres list mentions only just IN 001 for all the so many centres in INDIA. the gov list of approved centres does not mention any IN100 or any number other than IN 001 ?
IN 100 does not appear on the govs approved list of centres in India. But the cen where she did pass are still approved ?
what to do next ? Please advise
