ILR or British Spouse Visa

Post by ilrspouse1 » Tue Jun 07, 2016 3:21 pm

I have an ILR visa acquired through Tier1. I got ILR a year and a half ago and I am qualified for British Citizenship. I have following questions:

1) I would like to apply for a dependant visa for my wife in October, if I apply for my BC at the start of July, can I still apply for my wife's visa in October whilst home office is considering my BC application.
2) With regards to the processing time for dependant visa, is it quicker to receive dependant visa for ILR person than british citizen (all other factors remaining the same)?

Thanks for your help.

1) yes you can. When you apply for BC through NCS then you dont need to send your orignal passports and orignal documents . You only need copy of your ILR and Passport that you need to send along with supporting documents of your dependent

2) same procedure from outiside UK whether you apply as a spouse of settled person or british person. There are two services priority and non priority. You need to pay additional fees for priority service

Thanks for your reply. Can you please confirm after applying for BC, when I receive a letter urging me to complete my Bio metrics, do they mention to do bio metric on a specified date or do they just say to cmoplete your bio metric within x number of days? In either case, what is the rough time gap between the letter date and "complete your bio metric" by date?

I gather from the BC time line that it is taking about a month for recieving the letter for bio metric. The reason I ask is because I will be away on a holiday for 10 days and I was thinking of applying for BC a week before my holiday starts so that would give me 17 days window.

You will be given 15 days to enroll your biometric. It is not an appointment system.

Thanks CR001, final question: I will be going on holiday for 10 days and will apply a week before my holiday starts , my question is do I need to update HO that the information that I have provided in the form for last 5 year absences have been changed i.e. I was out of the country for 10 days since I applied for the BC? Is this a significant change in circumstances that warrant an update to HO?

Once you have submitted your application, there is no requirement to 'update HO' if you go on holiday.
