EEA (FM) - What happens when Home Office asks for passport r

Hello,

I would appreciate if someone could share an experience with passport return to the Home Office and receipt of RC.

I applied in January, submitted my Biometrics and received CoA in February, then I asked for my passport to be returned ending of March and got my passport back beginning of April.

I might be travelling outside UK again in about a month and I am concerned what happens if Home Office asks for my passport back in the meantime and I am away.
Furthermore does anyone knows how many days you have to return the passport once the procedure is over and RC is ready.
