Marriage Visa

Post by Killomiter » Wed Jun 15, 2016 4:46 pm

I have been told that my husband of 8 months will stand better chance for settlement (residency) if he first comes for a visit. I am English born, and he is a macedonian citizen. I've been trawling through the information (often in circles) on the .gov website which is highly useless. Since the start of our relationship in early 2014 we have abide by the various government rules and unfortunately have been separated for a lot of time (I spent 3 months in Macedonia, 3 months in England) we decided to marry to stop this separation and in almost 9 months now of marriage and I cant seem to find a solution to get him over here. We have the application forms downloaded and filled out off the .gov website but really struggling to find out where we send the applications to. I am also aware we need a GWF number, as we need this to get into the TLS contact page. But absolutely no idea how to obtain one or where from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your spouse has to apply in Macedonia.

Difficult to get a visitor visa as he is clearly not a 'genuine visitor' so I would strongly suggest you not even waste your money trying to get a visitor visa.

What visa forms have you completed?

Thanks CR001,
Okay, we have only filled the visitor visa forms out (VAF1A), but have printed off the Appendix 2 VAF4A (financial requirement form).
The .gov website is not forthcoming with any of the information we need. So he must apply in Macedonia, but with there not being an embassy (or the embassy doesn't deal with visas anymore) where does he actually apply ?? Like i said we have been onto TLS contact website, but got stumped because we did not have a GWF number. Where and how do you get one of these so we can do the application on there ??

See links below.

https://www.gov.uk/government/world-loc ... -macedonia

https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/overview

https://www.gov.uk/join-family-in-uk/apply

He can apply online, see link below.

https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

For a spouse visa, you need form VAF4A and Appendix FM. Do you earn £18,600pa??

Your spouse will also need to do the English test at one of the approved test centres.

He will also have to pay the £600 immigration health surcharge which is in addition to the visa fee of £1,195.

Currently I do not earn £18,600 ... Is there anyway around this ?? My parents that I live with, have ample income and are willing to support him financially until he finds work.

I'm 99% sure i filled this bit out online for him in desperation,

https://www.gov.uk/apply-uk-visa

But it just kept saying that an error occurred and wouldn't tell me why.

Will one of these applications get us a GWF number ?? and do you have to pay the fee right away once the application has been done ??

No way around the earning requirement, unless you have significant savings. UKVI will not take into account future earnings possibilities or third party sponsorship.

I too doubt a visitor visa would be approved.

Sorry...

Just tried again with my partners details, on this link

https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/account/register

and it says:
"Your registration has been unsuccessful, please see the guidance at https://ukvi-international.faq-help.com"

I have emailed through this page before and been given an automated response that makes no sense.
You can see my frustration.

What visa category are you intending to apply for? Your husband won't qualify for a spouse settlement visa if you are not earning £18,600 p.a. You are required to show that you have been earning this for at least the 6 months prior to submitting the application.
In order for a visitor visa application to succeed, your husband will have to submit evidence of strong ties to his home country in order to convince the Entry Clearance Officer that he won't overstay in the UK. This may be very difficult with a wife living here.
