Tier2 changing employer (Please Help)

Post by bext » Wed Jul 06, 2016 5:28 pm

Hi all,

I have been on Tier2 visa for 7 months as a new entrant. My current salary is £29K. But I am interested in another entry level position in other company. In this case can i still apply for that entry level position which may offer me slightly lower salary than my current salary? I mean my new employer can sponsor me with Tier 2 visa. And does the experienced salary threshold kick in in this case?
I am above 26 years old, btw.

Thanks

Things to consider

The new salary must meet the SOC requirements so has to be no less that the new enterant rate for the job.

You can only qualify for new enterant upto three years and one month. Any visa application that extents your stay beyond that has to have experienced salary. So in this case your employer could issue you a COS for two years only.

Your application will get a high degree of scrutiny because you are moving down in salary and it may trigger visits to your previous employer and/or your new employer because why would someone do that. It sets off alarm bells on the were / are the roles genuine etc.

What industry are you working in? If it is IT then they will really start asking questions.

Thank you for your reply. I am working in professional service/ accounting industry (one of the big four). The firm that I am going to join is smaller consulting firm and the position requires a specific language which I speak.

Well they won't be visiting a big four firm..... And I am guessing you are a graduate entry person and knowing that industry you will be well paid. So your salary drop down will not ring any alarm bells.

Good luck
