What visa do i apply for?

Good day everyone i applied for the uk army and i will need to apply for a visa in order to come to the uk to finish the process i will be staying with my sister who will be sponsering me so i want to know if i should apply for family visa or general visa?

i am from jamaica and i am jamaican... the army did not specify what category i should apply for i guess i should contact them?

If they've invited you there must be a system in place, see what they suggest.

Thank you vinny but the the rules has change you no longer need to have the 5 years residency

This was still the guidance dated 2016, when was the 5 year requirement removed?

"British citizens, British subjects under the Nationality Act, 1981, British Protected Persons or Commonwealth Citizens. If you are a citizen of a Commonwealth country, you'll need to have lived in the UK for at least 5 years before you start an application to join the Army.
You must not have been out of the UK for a continuous period of more than 180 days (6 months) during this 5 year period."
(Casa, not CR001)

The British Army has welcomed soldiers from Commonwealth countries for many years. The service that they give, helps the Armed Forces defend the UK at home and abroad.

There has been a change to the rules for people joining from across the Commonwealth. We now have a selection of Army roles, that you don't need to meet the residency requirements for. Change about 2months now
