If you are British otherwise than by descent, then child will automatically be British.

The airline won't permit your wife to travel at this late stage of her pregnancy. Here's the link for registering your child as a British citizen on form MN1

My error...Vinny is correct that the child will be automatically British. However, be prepared that a passport application is likely to take a considerable time to process.

I believe Vinny would advise that you can't register a child who is automatically British. You would have to apply directly for a passport.

Or a foreign passport and a CoE or RoA, which also takes a bit of time.
Char (CR001 not Casa)
