Doing 2 jobs @ same time in UK

Post by HolaHSMP » Sun Dec 09, 2007 8:00 pm

Hi,

Hope you guys are doing great. After I got my HSMP approved last August I have been doing one full-time and another full-time consultancy (contractor) that does not require me to work from office, but I work on work products/designs that I need to submit.
My first job pays me 40k and second is £400/per day. My questions:

1. Will applying for HSMP extension in 2009 be a problem?
2. Is it legal to work 2 jobs? I pay upper 40% tax and I will submit tax using 2 P60s from the two jobs.
3. Has anyone in forum done 2 jobs and applied for HSMP extention?
4. Should I inform both the employers that I am working 2 places? I know it is stupid but I want to play safe. One of them will surely beat the hell out of me.

Thanks!

There must be something in your contract that states that you CANNOT take another full time employment which will effect your working hrs with that company...

After reading your post it looks like you are doing your second job from the office of the company where you are employed full time?

Yes there is no restriction how many jobs you could have.
What you need to be aware is that it is not your current salary will determine whether you will get extension or not. But it is your last 15 month salary that will determine whether you will get extension or not, so just be cautious. I will say your current salary is irrelevant as I assume 2009 is still more than 2 years from now.
