Register for Self Assement - Mandatory?

Post by hulkboy1379 » Thu Jul 21, 2016 10:03 pm

Hi Gurus

I am on 50k (PSW) route and about to apply for extension in couple of months.

I am not self employed and I am director of the company. I have not Registered for Self Assement till now and about to do it.

My question is, Is it mandatory Registering for Self Assement? for applying for extension and do we need to keep Self Assement report in checklist

Many thanks

HMRC - You need to register as an individual if you’re a company director.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

If you have a limited company than you are considered as an employee and your taxes are paid by your limited company so no need to register as a self employed

I am really confused with this one, can someone explain me in detail if possible.

If I register for self assessment now, how do I pay any previous missed payments. Please note I have not taken any dividends from my company till date.
