Mistake on Naturalisation Certificate

Post by LFCLONDON » Tue Jul 26, 2016 10:50 am

Hello,

Thank you for reading this and I appreciate If you could help me.

After leaving the Ceremony I realised that my Name & Surname has been written in wrong format on the certificate. My Surname is 2 parts, but somehow they used one part of It as my middle name!

So I called HomeOffice and was told to Fill-in The Duplicate Form, pay £198 and It takes up to 10 weeks. I told the lady but It's clearly HomeOffice error and she said they will refund you the fee If that's the case.

So I wrote a letter, attached copy of letters from HomeOffice where they had my Name correct and mentioned to them that I used NCS!! I sent everything by post. I didn't hear anything back till about 6 weeks later where I received the EXACT Certificate with exact MISTAKE! I called HomeOffice again and this time the lady said you didn't need to fill that form or even pay!! She gave me an address in Liverpool and said send a letter explaining the situation.

I sent a letter explaining the issue, asked for the correct certificate and asked for refund of the £198. But haven't heard anything yet for now entering 8 weeks of wait. I sometimes worry that they've never received my letter and I'm just waiting for nothing.

My question is 1) Is there anything else I could do at this stage? What are the chances of getting the £198 fee back?

Thanks again for reading.

Correct mistakes on a certificate.

If it was their mistake, then it's unreasonable of them to request payment for correcting their mistake.
