Do you mean your previous passport was not returned when you renewed it in the diplomatic mission of your country of origin?

Your employer should have a copy of your visa.

yes , my consulate in the UK did not return this.
My office might have a copy of passport page but I afraid about visa pages , and they would not have copy of my wife's visa (my family arrived in May 2012) and want to apply at same time so no official prove of Entry in the UK

Both you and your wife are missing the initial passports?

It is not missing , it was not returned by consulate after issuing new passport. in short we don't have passport with us which have initial visa and entry stamp.

Have you tried asking your Consulate for your passports back?

You applied for your Tier 2 visa between 6 Sept 2011 and 7 March 2012.

Your family submitted their dependant visa applications on 26 March 2012 and got their visas on 10 April 2012.

If you and your wife were working, then your employers should have copies of your visas as they are proof of your rights to work.

As few months left for ILR , so I have started to look ILR procedure and found I can apply in Oct 2016 along with my family but by grace of consulate I have no more legal evidence for first entry. i might have visa photo copies some where but ILR guidance on the forum tells to provide original documents

Copies are better than nothing.

SAR file may have some info.

Try asking Employers and Consulate.

That is best thing (consulate) they can do , they don't pick the phone. :)
