Tier 4 student to Tier 2 dependant

Hi,

I am an international government sponsored Tier 4 student migrant and my wife who is Tier 4 dependant just got a job offer with COS reference being issued to her. My question; Is it possible for me to switch to tier 2 dependant from tier 4 general without having government consent ? Because as far as I understand from the UK visa emigration website that a government consent is mandatory if I were to switch to tier 2 general myself, but I couldn't find an answer to the above mentioned question anywhere on their website.
