Residence card and Employment

Post by barbapapa » Mon Aug 15, 2016 10:18 am

Hi,

My wife has applied for a residence card and got acknowledgement of receipt at the end of April. We requested some of our document back in July and received them 2-3 weeks after.

We still did not get the residence card and are worrying it is coming late.

I would like to quit my job soon as I have a business project to start soon (self-employed) but I am afraid that this could cause the application to fail if they contacted my current employer.

What the Uk is entitled to do in that case?

Contact HO and advise of material change. They may require proof of your continuing qualified person status - now as selfemployed.

thanks noajthan for your reply.

How do I contact them and should I contact them after I quit my current job or before.
If I contact them before, I would have no proof yet of self employment and this might delay the application even more ?
I I contact them after, it might be too late (considering the time it will take to setup the self employment status) ?

We are planning to go to India at the end of the year and while we could apply for a family permit to come back this seems a lot of hassle.
